He's sure she thinks he's forgotten that night, but though he had been high as hell, he remembered. He has simply decided he's not going to ask her again until he can do it properly.
He takes her hand to leave the dance floor and at the bar he closes out the meager tab. Then they're on their way, out into the night hand in hand. There's still a chill in the air but spring is clearly on it's way.
"Do you feel safe cutting through the park with me?" he asks then, always so aware of what might make her panic. He's gentle with her for that He's always on watch for that.
